Gloomy Days.

Today is one of those days when I feel like curling into a ball and crying in some corner of the house just because I couldn’t come up with an idea to write. And then my cousin sister drilled into my head the fact that some days should be about self-love.

As someone who had her face buried in her hands a few minutes ago, I can tell you that it is completely okay to not feel motivated on some days. So you’ve had a long day and you don’t know how to be creative today? Take a break, take a nap, eat something you like, paint your nails, stay in a blanket and watch a good movie. Something. Anything.

Quoting my best friend here, “If you ever feel like you’re losing touch with yourself, do anything that’s familiar to you. Anything that takes you back to your childhood or a memory that’s comfortable to cling to. Don’t run away.” It makes all the sense in the world because today, most of us are driven by the desire to put our best foot forward, and it’s natural to lose ourselves for a little while.

A little bit of familiarity can be what we need to get back to being our truest self without losing ourselves entirely. I know I talk a lot about self-love, but it’s not until you completely lose yourself for a while and then suddenly snap out of it that you understand the importance of loving yourself through the ups and downs.

That being said, I don’t want you to think that I’m romanticizing low self-esteem. I just want you all to know that it is okay if you can’t really feel like yourself today. But make sure that you try and reconnect with yourself before it’s too late because it gets so difficult and confusing after a while. Like trying to find your way back to civilization after wandering for hours into an unknown forest.

So if you feel like you want to just turn off for a minute there, do it. But don’t let that minute extend to an hour or a week. Reconnect with yourself once in a while.

Look after yourself, look out for yourself, and be kind to yourself.

Cheerio! Xx
