Distant realms hidden away in the clouds,
I wonder if they have their secrets, too;
Perhaps a heart that aches with longing,
All alone with not a soul to tell,
Humming songs that nobody will hear,
Fading into the silence and mist,
With the hope to share it with the long-lost,
The one the heart yearns for, the one truly missed.
And I wonder what secrets the forests hide,
Behind all those thickets soaked in dew,
A faraway, forlorn flute tears through,
So shrill, it could cut through the dark ,
The same song played over and over,
Like it was the last shred of hope—
One last thread to hold on to,
One last memory to bid tearful goodbyes.
Eyes of molten gold and stormy grey skies,
Filled with tears where there should’ve been love,
Crossed paths and then walked away,
So much there could’ve been, so much time lost,
So stubbornly in love, these broken hearts,
Dodging as if it were a swordfight,
Blades within an inch of their hearts,
Fates and lives flashing in their eyes.
And should these secrets be buried in shallow graves,
With storms they’d be unearthed, exposed,
For who shall ever hide the secrets of the heart?
They’re as obvious as they can ever be.
And perhaps they’ll forever live right here,
On the tips of our tongues, as they’ll ever be,
Hidden behind the mist of fear,
There are secrets you can’t take to the grave.
I don’t know what this is, or why I wrote this. I guess this poem is just one of those things that you need to get out of your system because the words keep playing around in your head for too long. I didn’t know what this could turn out to be, but I am happy with how this poem turned out. I hope you liked it. Yours truly, The Shubhster.
Very nice
