Praises.

All time seemed to slow down,
And I felt the axis shift,
If the harp strings strummed,
An illusion is all it was,
And yet, you’re right here,
Real, alive and breathing,
As though a figment of my fancy
That my prayers breathed to life,
I could swear it on all things beautiful,
Of all muses I’ve sung praises for,
You’re the most heavenly, by far.
You, with the stars in your eyes,
The warmth of the winter sun in your laugh,
Not a sound has ever been more pleasing
Than my name on your lips,
Voice dripping honey dew;
How terribly selfish of me
To want for myself, all of you.
A breath of fresh air,
But all wind knocked out,
Perhaps, this is but a dream—
Your lies I’d worship, devoted, blind,
All this beauty in the world,
And somehow you still remain, to me,
The most marvellous thing I’ve ever seen.
If my world were to be tethered to you,
I’d let the strings of fate weave around,
Let our stars and paths be bound,
So all my roads will lead me home,
Right beside you where I belong.

I have absolutely no explanation for this. It’s just something I came up with, out of nowhere, and I actually like how it turned out. So I decided to just post it, instead of letting it stay hidden in some notebook. It comes from a place of genuine love, that I can assure you all. For the first time, I have been writing things just because they seemed right and not because they were dedicated to somebody or inspired by something. This is a poem I can call truly mine and I’m happier about that than I’ll admit. Hope you like it!
Yours truly,

The Shubhster.
