Filters & Presets for Life.

Spoiler alert: there simply aren’t any!

Sometimes, in our never-ending search for our place and purpose in this world, we often try on several shoes for size before actually finding the one thing that we’re passionate about. Some of us might find the right fit earlier than the others, but that doesn’t mean we start doing exactly what the other person did to get where they are now.

Because let’s face it, hard work and originality aren’t like your average photo editing preset or filter that you can just hope to smack onto your lives and expect it to look the same way everybody else’s does. In this case, I hate to break it to you, but we have to take the long way round and edit from scratch. And we have to keep at it until we get the results we wanted out of life.

Copying others’ works under the pretense of ‘being inspired by it’ is just a shortcut. After all, how are we ever going to find out what we’re good at if we keep doing what everybody else is? Being inspired isn’t the same as blindly trying our hand at something just because someone we know is.

 

Don’t get too comfortable with the idea of wanting to be as good as somebody else. Be as good as you, and as good as you can possibly be. They aren’t you, and you aren’t them. So why waste such a short life trying to copy anybody else?

You’re incredibly unique. You’re a custom preset! Never forget that.
