Journal Entry- 26.01.20.

Dear Diary,

Yep. I am home.

After the last 3 days in the Pink City of Jaipur, I finally had to wake up from the dream that my trip has been. But the funny thing is, I feel like I brought a piece of the city with me back home. I’m not just talking about the souvenirs or the clay pots that we drank hot tea from in the cold evenings. I’m talking about the big bag of memories that I now have with me. Truth be told, I’ve never really experienced travelling with a friend before, so it’s not like I had a bar for my expectations. But if I had to set one now, it’d be pretty high and extremely hard to beat.

It’s almost as if things change when you travel with someone, no matter how long it takes. You either end up getting annoyed of them or you end up making your bond stronger than it has ever been. And luckily for us, it was the latter. I cannot tell you how much funnier things can be when you’re with somebody who thinks a lot like you and is always in perfect sync with you. It’s like clockwork and the gears keep moving smoothly because that’s the way you’ve nurtured the bond you share. It’s safe to say that although I hate that trip came to an end, I’m glad it happened for us.

People say that travel changes you. And I agree. It can really push you out of your comfort zone and keep you on your toes. The best part is that even after walking the entire day, we didn’t feel exhausted until the actual end of the trip. Maybe it was the adrenaline coursing through our veins, I’m not sure. What I do know is that experiencing things feels so much better when you have someone you can really click with along. I love a good solo trip, but I won’t deny the fact that everything is more fun when you’ve got a really close friend along for the ride.

I just want to put this out here: the last couple of days have been the highlight of this year already. And it has not even been a whole month yet. I’m just really glad that it happened and that some things are just going to stay with you for the rest of your life. The more I honk about this, the more I realise how lucky we have been to have actually made it there and back safe and sound. So here’s to making memories that are going to last me a lifetime, and hoping for a lot more to come.

Happy and thrilled,

Shubhs.
