The Art is in You.

For a very long time before yesterday, I had almost given up on making a piece of digital art because no matter how much I tried, it just wouldn’t happen. I kept failing at it again and again, to a point where it stripped me of all patience. I kept getting increasingly annoyed every time I failed at making yet another piece of digital art and I’m still learning. I had almost convinced myself that maybe it wasn’t for me until I ended up making something actually beautiful yesterday. I was surprised too. After all this time, why work now?

And then I realized that maybe the problem wasn’t me not getting the hang of it, rather, it was because I wouldn’t give myself the chance to improve. Because, in spite of all the times I’ve told everybody else that we don’t have to be good at something right off the bat, I didn’t give myself that chance for some reason. I expected myself to have a natural knack for it, and guess what? It’s not the way things work in life all the time. We fail, we get up, we try again until we do finally start making progress.

Then again, that’s the way things are expected to be. I’ve seen people give up on something they were genuinely curious about simply because they thought they didn’t have a natural talent for it. How would you even know if you never gave yourself the chance to explore every single possibility in the field? We can’t rush that kind of growth. It has to happen in its own pace and you have to make sure that you do everything to nurture whatever progress you are currently making. It doesn’t matter if you’re not good at something as long as you’re willing to try.

In my opinion, anybody who can appreciate any kind of art or artist can also create art of their own. It might take a while to hone your skills and start making better art, but you very much can. All you have to do is believe in yourself and let it happen in its own time. Be patient with yourself and never give up!

You got this!
Cheerio! Xx
