In Case You Feel Out-Of-Focus Today…

Today is just one of those extremely out-of-focus days and I cannot really bring myself to write anything. I don’t know why I feel this sudden lack of creativity, although it’s completely normal to feel exhausted after spending an entire day coming up with a concept for a last-minute project. At this point, if I am asked to go to sleep for days at a stretch, I would do it without a second thought. But, as an upcoming artist whose career has only barely begun to take off, I cannot actually do that.

However, it truly is nice to remind myself that taking breaks is a good thing and that overworking myself into the ground and spending too much of my energy on things that drain me aren’t healthy for me. Sometimes, we need to take it easy on ourselves because we might have been pouring a lot of energy into other things. And as much as we would like to keep pushing ourselves, it only makes sense to take a break for a little while and do things that make you feel lighter or inspired before you can get back to everything else.

And as much as I would like to believe that I can give out some incredibly solid advice, I suck at following through with it. I tried to do it, for a change, today, and instead, I spent the whole day worrying about deadlines and lessons that I needed to catch up on. So, clearly, I need to work on that. And it’s also a reminder to you all that I am not a sane person who has it all figured out. I am just another stumbling human being who is trying to make sense of whatever this world has going on.

So, before anybody tries to picture me as a ‘dedicated, hard-working writer who never misses a day on her blog’, remember that I am a human first. I am just as confused as anybody else about everything around us. And in case nobody told you this today, I hope you’re taking care of yourself and showing yourself the love and kindness that you should. We all have our slow, syrupy days. And then, before we know it, we’re back to having the kind of days when we’ve barely had the time to sit down and take a breath. That’s just how it is!

Allow yourself the down-time that you deserve, every once in a while. Your creativity isn’t something that is going to run out, I promise you. But being a creative person and feeling the creativity coursing through you are two very different things, that, on a good day, could make you feel on top of the world. But on the days you feel like you lack the slightest bit of creativity, let yourself just be and allow the inspiration to come to you. It eventually will.

I hope you have a great day!

Cheerio! Xx
