The world is split into two kinds of people: people who make decisions with their heads, and those who make them with their hearts. And in case it wasn’t abundantly clear from every single one of my posts already, I come under the latter. I have always listened to what my heart has to say because too much logic has always ruined the magic for me.
I like to think that anything is possible and that the world can be a pretty magical place. But since we live in a world where there is also this special category of people known as the ‘buzz-kills’, being a heart-person can be a struggle sometimes. You’ll be called unrealistic and impractical far more times than you can count. Your opinions will be dismissed because you ‘don’t know what the real world is like’.
Well, I call BS on that! As a heart-person, I can tell you that all of it is true. But what else is true is that when you’re a heart-person, you love more strongly because you’re not held back by the constraints of logic. You might seem like an ‘incurable romantic’ to the rest of the world, but it’s just second nature to you to give out love.
And I’m not going to lie, but heart-people also get hurt only because they choose to put themselves out there and be the kind of person Rom-Coms tell you about. They’re the ones who dare to take that leap of faith because they dared to dream in the first place. I didn’t choose to be a heart-person because I knew what it would be like; it’s who I am at my core.
And even though people are still not very convinced about the way I choose to think or make decisions because it doesn’t really seem ‘practical enough’ to them, I like being a heart-person. I like going with my intuition, even if I do have to stumble a little bit along the way. I’d rather be a hopeful optimist who has to try twice to get to my dreams than be a resigned pessimist who spends all their time plotting.
After all, we could use a lot more people who look at the world with rose-coloured glasses. What kind are you?
