An Open Letter if You Need Some Love.

Hey, there!

If you’re reading this, it means that you probably needed some love or positivity today. Maybe you’ve been having a bad day or week, I wouldn’t know. But what I do know is that it truly does get better. I’m sure you’ve heard it a hundred times from a hundred different people before, but I mean it and not in a dismissive way. I don’t know what it’s like to be in your shoes and frankly, I never will. I can’t say things like ‘I know what you’re going through’ because I don’t. But what I do know is that the best things happen when you least expect them.

Of course, you’ll have to work for making your dreams come true, too! Awards are never just handed out to people now, are they? Here’s something that has worked for me so far. Every time I feel like I’m doing well for myself, I treat myself to something I like, without going overboard. Do it. Tell yourself how proud you are of yourself for doing that thing you had been putting off. Celebrate with a coffee date with your friends, or with pizza and something on Netflix if you want to stay in. Or simply pat yourself on the back.

Here’s another thing you can do. Every time you feel like you haven’t been getting enough appreciation for what you do, write down what you’re most proud of having done recently and put it in a jar. The next time you feel this way, read what you wrote the last time and add a new note. Remind yourself that you are an amazing person and that you are capable of doing equally amazing things! Be your own hype-person!

Over time you will realize that the only validation you’ll ever need is from yourself, even if the validation given by a thousand people online feels nice. But don’t let that stop you from flexing your work on your social media platform. Never let yourself feel like you’re not good at what you do. There are always going to be people who are better than you, but that does not invalidate your talent or hard work. You deserve the appreciation, remember that!

There’s a chance that you’ve just not been able to focus on something like you should have. Listen to what your body and mind are telling you, hon. Take a day off and get some rest. Recharge! Hydrate. You seem like you could use a day of pampering, so why don’t you? Your problems are still going to be right where they are, so you can deal with them tomorrow. Take a day off and look after yourself for a bit. Or take a page out of my best friend’s book and do something that calms you down. Something that makes you feel like yourself again.

When it’s all said and done, I want you to know that you are loved and appreciated. You truly do matter. Every single one of you matters. If you ever feel like things are getting too much for you to handle all by yourself, reach out to a friend. Or you can always reach out to me if you have nowhere else to turn to.

Sending you love, positivity and warm fuzzies.

Yours truly,
The Shubhster. Xx
