One of the first things you do to fall in love with life is to fall in love with the person who’s living it. I’m talking about you! And there is nothing wrong with you if you struggle with loving yourself. Who doesn’t?
But don’t you worry about that because I’m here to help you with a few tips that you can practice, just a little every day, to fall madly in love with yourselves. I know for a fact that they’ve helped me get through some pretty rough times and I really want to pass them on to you all.
Here are a few ways to love yourself just a little bit more:
1. Be unapologetically yourself.
The first step to loving yourself is staying true to who you are at your core. This means that you start looking into the mirror first thing in the morning and telling yourself that you are perfect, you are beautiful, and that you are enough. You don’t have to compare yourself to anybody in order to make yourself feel better or more ‘put-together’. When you ease yourself into who you are as a person, or take steps to be a better version of your own self, you learn how to love yourself.
2. Pay attention to self-care.
Often, we work and wear ourselves out to an extent that takes a toll on our physical, mental and emotional health. And because we’re on our journey to showing ourselves some love, let’s start taking a little more care of ourselves. It doesn’t even have to be too much of an effort. Starting with something as simple as drinking more water in a day can be the stepping stone to paying more attention to how you look after yourself.
3. Be kind to yourself.
And how do you do that when you feel like you’re not good enough? You tell yourself. Every morning, start with one thing you like about yourself. Tell yourself what it is. The list of things you can praise yourself for is endless. So pick one thing every day and remind yourself about it throughout. It can be your hair, your smile, your ability to multi-task. Anything! Once you start being kind to yourself, loving yourself is just a hop, skip and a jump away.
