#NaPoWriMo Day 5: As They Could Be.

The night sky a blanket of glittering diamonds;
Suddenly, I wonder how it would be
If the world we lived in were upside-down,
My feet in the cotton clouds under me.
Toes soaked in warm puddles of sunshine,
My breath calm and steady,
Eyes closed, my vision tinted red and gold,
The peace is deafening, inviting,
Fragrance of the sky at the tip of my tongue.
It almost feels as though I could
Hear the colours swirling around me,
Their vibrance, music to my ears,
Thoughts running wild and free–
What if things aren’t as they could be?

But, tell me how?
These figments of my imagination,
Are all but a mere fantasy,
For the world is still upright,
The sky above the land below,
Though dream as one might.

Speaking of things as they could be,
Perhaps in another world
My dreams are indeed a reality–
A land of infinite possibilities.
Or maybe it’s my mind so wild
Seeing things that simply can’t be,
What a ridiculous notion to have!

Colourful minds and dreaming eyes,
Tell me, wouldn’t you like to touch the sky?
Wouldn’t you like to taste the sky above,
Or feel the burning passion of love?
So, to the girl writing this, l’ll say,
Don’t give up on your dreams,
One way or another
Reach the sky, you shall,
For when you slip into a world your own,
The sky above shall be your blanket;
“Sweet dreams,” the Moon whispers,
For tonight she’ll dream of a world,
Not as it truly is,
But as it could someday be.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net was something called ‘Twenty Little Poetry Projects” where we had to incorporate as many tasks out of the given twenty into our poem. This one really made me think a lot. I didn’t get around to completing all 20 tasks, but I’ve tried my best with this one! I hope you liked it. Xx
