Music is my first go-to when all I want to do is unwind and get my spirits soaring again, after a particularly bad day. Apparently, the science side of the Earth’s population has discovered that upbeat music can have a very positive effect on your mood. But honestly, we didn’t really need them to tell us that.
I love sharing music with my friends; especially the kind of music that cheers me up, in the hopes that it can cheer my friends up as well. I find listening to music very refreshing, and it’s one of the most important parts of my daily self-care routine. If I can’t really listen to music, I can be found humming to myself while working.
I have two whole playlists on my Instagram highlights that you are more than welcome to go check out. I have always believed that sharing music can get people to know each other better, and give them hope when they need it the most. I hope that whoever is looking for a feel-good playlist today, even if it’s just for a quiet time in.
So, for today, I decided to ditch the whole Preachy McPreacherson vibe that most of my posts have had in the last two weeks and reveal my feel-good playlist to you guys instead. That being said, here are 10 songs that make me feel better almost instantly, in no particular order, and I hope they work for you too!
1. Shake It Off- Taylor Swift
My ultimate go-to when I just want to let loose and ignore what the rest of the world is saying about me. This song has always screamed ‘I am who I am, no matter what people say about me‘ to my ever-insecure self. Love it, hate it, this song catches on and you know it.
2. Something Big- Shawn Mendes
I totally did not expect anything this upbeat when I saw the name ‘Shawn Mendes’ on the artist section. I won’t lie when I saw that this song has always made me feel better as if I’m ready to face anything head-on, no matter how nervous I am. It’s one of the songs that hypes me up.
3. Lose Yourself- Eminem
I think I discovered Eminem back when I was 14 or something. And ‘Lose Yourself‘ was one of the songs that I heard before rehearsing for any competition that I was taking part in, or before studying for an exam. I really don’t remember much, but I can tell you that you’ll never go wrong with this masterpiece.
4. Masterpiece- Jessie J
Speaking of masterpieces, this is one of the songs that really helped me during the times when I didn’t have a very high opinion of myself. This is one of the songs that will tell you that it’s okay to feel like you’re still a work-in-progress because good things take time. That shouldn’t stop you from feeling like you’re good enough.
5. Fireflies- Owl City
I think everybody likes this song because of how soothing it is. For me, it’s a reminder of simpler times, but also that I should be happy and grateful for those moments that happened in life, instead of trying to desperately hold on to something that just doesn’t exist anymore.
6. Good Time- Owl City Ft. Carly Rae Jepsen
We all have those days when everything seems like it’s been jinxed; they’re that bad! For such days, I go back to this song to lift up my spirits. There’s something about the amount of optimism in this song that makes me forget, even if it’s just for a minute, that the world isn’t all rainbows and unicorns.
7. We Are Young- Fun. Ft. Janelle Monáe
Plain feel-good and nothing else. This is a song for the times when all you want to do is celebrate the moments you want to remember your life by, not just for what they will mean to you years from now, but also for what they mean to you right now in the very present.
8. Best Day of My Life- American Authors
This is one of those songs that will make you shout from the rooftops that you have a big dream that will not be brought down by anyone who tells you that it’s not realistic. If you dare, you can achieve it. Sky’s the limit, and all you have to do is believe!
9. Happy- Pharrell Williams
I’ll admit, I should have mentioned this song way before I mentioned everything. Off the top of my head, this is one of the songs that makes me want to dance, even when I’m having a particularly bad day, The energy is enough to make me forget about my troubles for a while.
10. Can’t Stop The Feeling- Justin Timberlake
This song will make you forget all of your worries and have you dancing (or at the very least, bobbing your head) in no time at all. If you’re looking for something that’s filled with positive energy to make your day better, then this is the song for you.
So, that’s part 1 of my feel-good playlist. You might have heard most of these songs, but you can’t deny the energy they bring. I’ll post a part 2 to this playlist tomorrow. Until then, I hope these songs make your day better, even if just a little.
Keep music close to your heart, people!
Cheerio! Xx
