We all have those bad days where we just want to bury our heads in our pillows, snuggle into our blankets and simply sleep in. Maybe we aren’t feeling motivated enough to face the day ahead of us, or we’re just not in the right mental space for it. And it’s completely okay to have a bad day now and then.
So, to make sure that I have a slightly better day than I had hoped, I penned down a few positive affirmations in my journal to remind myself that having a positive outlook can turn my day around. And because good things are meant to be shared, here are five positive things you can tell yourself in case you’re having a bad day:
1. I can get through this.
Focus only on the things you have to get done for the day, and nothing else. If you’re busy dealing with the tasks you’ve set for yourself, you won’t have the time to worry about anything else.
2. Negative vibes cannot get to me.
There is no dearth of people who will try to bring you down. Take a deep breath when that one person is being especially annoying, and tell yourself that they can never have any kind of power over you from time to time.
3. I am not my mistakes.
So you’ve made a few blunders in the past few days. Who hasn’t? Since time travel hasn’t been made possible yet, we can’t really change what has happened. So why not graciously accept that and move along to try and make up for that today?
4. I choose happiness.
Now, I get that this isn’t an easy thing to do for people who are battling problems related to mental health. But for the rest of us, we can choose to overlook things that don’t bring us happiness and be grateful for all the good in our lives. It gets easier to choose happiness and ignore negativity over time.
5. Carpe Diem.
I know. This is probably the most cliché affirmation on my list. But I’ve observed that when I tell myself that I can ‘seize the day’, I actually can trick myself into thinking that I’m in control of what happens. And it works out pretty well, too!
You can always add as many things as you want to your list of positive affirmations. And because we’re all different people, our lists can be different too! My list has always helped me get through a rough day, and I hope it does the same for you.
Hey everyone! I hope you liked the post. Let me know in the comments below if you have a similar list, and mention what you tell yourself on bad days. I’ll look forward to hearing from you!
